Day 1: Discover Koh Ker and Beng Mealea Temple
After
breakfast in hotel, drive to the remote temple Koh Ker through the typical
Khmer countryside (120 km from Siem Reap). There is a lot to see in 2.5 hours
by car as it takes you through many lively villages and rice paddies. Discover
the temples long abandoned in the forests of northern Cambodia. Your day is
dedicated to the Pyramid temple of Koh Ker, this temple was built by King
Jayavarman IV in 928 to 942.
Visit
the temples in the Koh Ker group like, Prasat Pram, Prasat Kra Cham, Prasat
Neang Kmao, Prasat Damrei, Prasat Thom (Koh Ker).
It has
also been a prolific period for gigantic sculpture and many of the most
impressive pieces in the National Museum of Phnom Penh come from Koh Ker.
In the
afternoon, have lunch at a local Cambodian restaurant.
On the
way back, you will continue the visit by discovering Beng Mealea (60 km from
Siem Reap and 1 hour drive from Koh Ker). You contemplate an authentic
Cambodian countryside lined with kms of rice fields crossing a multitude of
typical village. This abandoned temple in the forests of northern Cambodia, it
was never restored.
Return
to Siem Reap and overnight at your hotel
Day 2:
Visit the main temples of Angkor 'Small Tour'
Breakfast,
departure from the hotel at 8 AM, you will leave by private car with your
guide, to discover the temples in the site of Angkor, '' small circuit ''.
Your
starting point is Ta Prohm Temple, where the tree roots have taken over the
temple. Then you will continue the visit in the great ancient city of Angkor
Thom, last capital of the Khmer Empire during the reign of Jayavarman VII, this
city is surrounded by a wall of 8 m high, drawing a perfect square. Visit the
Terrace of the Leper King, the Royal Palace with the small temple of
Phimeanakas, the Terrace of the Elephants, Baphoun and you will finish the
morning by the temple-mountain of Bayon (State Temple: 1181-1215) which is
located in the center the enclosure of Angkor Thom.
In the
afternoon, break for lunch in local restaurant
After lunch, you will continue to visit the largest and most impressive temple of
all the temples of Angkor. Angkor Wat was built by Suryavarman II in the early
12th century as a "state temple" and capital, a marvel of Khmer
architecture. The complex covers nearly 210 hectares, and unveils to visitors
the majesty and beauty of its impressive architecture. The 5 towers of Angkor
Wat are featured on the flag of Cambodia today.
